I don't usually post twice in one day, but I thought you should get an update.
Conan's trip today took 11 hours. He left Rock Island today at about 8:30 am with his friend Chris behind the wheel. It was about 11:30 when they got to University Hospitals. (usually an hour trip) They left the hospital at noon, but kept trying roads and then would have to turn back. (It sounds like many law enforcement officials tried to be helpful and offer alternate routes all day, but roads kept closing) Around 4:00 pm they were back to Iowa City to restart their detours. They are just now getting home at 7:30 pm.
Also, Conan & Gretta got water in the basement of their house during last night's storm. A number of helpers (Eric, Jim, Joseph and some others) came over and cleaned things out this afternoon. BIG THANK YOUS to them.

I must say, today was stressful for me, so I can only imagine what it was like for Conan. I told him when we left, there was no doubt in my mind, we would make it there and back, there was no other options. It was an interesting day, yet time well spent for two guys that have been on may road trips. Between the water, many stories, past and present, sight seeing, some of the same sights, over and over, gas (both kinds, but mostly Conan's), police officers, which neither of us have been fond of in the past, music,pp breaks, whatever it was, and no matter how hard it was, we did it. And that is something I want Conan to remember, no matter what it is, or how hard it is, you will do it. There is not doubt in my mind he will beat this, there is no other option. I have offered my chauffeurs services for next Friday, but on three condition:
1. No water roadblocks.
2. Replace my shirt. (He knows)
3. Cubs game on the radio.
Conan has yet to give me an answer. I love you like a brother man, and whatever you need, just ask!
Chris
